Fast Hot Pressing Sintering MAX-phase Machinable Ceramic Materials

Ternary layered MAX-phase ceramics have the comprehensive characteristics of ceramics. Metals are a type of machinable structural ceramic material. They have good application prospects in high temperature, irradiation, high stress, and other environments. Ti2AlC, V2AlC, Nb2AlC, Cr2AlC, and Ta2AlC belong to the M2AlC MAX phase. And they are typical representatives of ternary layered ceramics.

Our customers are on the premise of ensuring the proportion of each element in the M2AIC MAX-phase. We hope to introduce a high entropy effect into MAX-phase ceramics by changing the number of transition elements M. To improve the comprehensive performance of MAX-phase ceramics. Synthesize the three high entropy ceramic materials, (Ti1/3V1/3Nb1/3)2AIC, (Ti0.25V0.25Nb0.25Cr0.25)2AIC and (Ti0.2V0.2Nb0.2Cr0.2Ta0.2)2AlC, by fast hot pressing sintering furnace CEN-FHP-808 in our open laboratory. The effects of the batching scheme and sintering temperature on the microstructure and properties of the three high entropy MAX phase ceramic materials were studied.
